NEW DELHI, March 13 (Xinhua) -- India's leading private airline IndiGo on Friday announced an additional fuel charge on air tickets, citing "significant surge" in fuel prices amid the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
According to the company, the additional fuel charge would come into effect on Saturday. The move would result in an additional burden on air travelers ranging from 425 to 2,300 Indian Rupees (about 25 U.S. dollars) per air ticket, it added.
Earlier, another private airline company in the country, Air India, also announced increases in fuel charges in a phased manner. ■
